Political Thorns

“As for the seed that fell among thorns, these are the ones who, when they have heard, go on their way and are choked with worries, riches, and pleasures of life, and produce no mature fruit” (Luke 8:14, CSB).

Politics can be a thorn. Politics on twitter (or any social media) is even thornier. “Don’t be choked with political worries” seems like obvious advice. But we can also be choked by political pleasures. The pleasure of “#Winning” — of our political party gaining a win at the cost of integrity and/or Christian virtue.
